Editorial Comment for the week of January 14th
The first thing worth noting is that, not until GW Bush was already in the ME did overseas papers disclose there was a $30BB package for Israel, as well as the $20BB for Saudi. So, this is George's Carrot & Stick combined, weapons. He spoke of peace, with a little (p)ee (appropriate as he pisses on everyone as he pisses everyone off :), but his words were not matched by his deeds as he sold weapons of war. Here he plays Nick Cage. He sat in a tent, wearing traditional Arab Garb (no photos, please, Glen Beck-"when I see you, excuse me, sorry, but I see a terrorist"- could be watching), showered with jewels, playing Laurence of Arabia, with Elliott Abrams, ( a truly corrupt influence), and Abdullah, the King of Oil, longtime family friend, begging for increased production because poor little America is suffering... Hat in hand, have we sunk that low? While there in the region, Monday's executions by sword, went uninterrupted. That shouldn't have cost GW sleep, as he was known as "The Executioner" in Texas. In Egypt, he chastised Mubarak about "civil society" (talking to a man from a 6,000 year old civilization), while actually pressuring him about Gaza tunnels, Israel's hostage held by Hamas and left them thinking the US was bored with them as he flew off after only a three hour visit. No big weapons order? I'm busy buddy. It is transparent that all diplomacy is seen through the myopic lens of US National Security and Military Industrialist' interests. The real Carrot and Stick has become "join our team" and we will give you "Free Trade", (forget Fair Trade, not in their lexicon). Ignore our warnings and strange terrorist incidents will magically happen on the very same soil we warned you was infiltrated with "terrorists". You didn't consider them a threat? Watch this, dude. As he arrived in Israel they were adding illegal settlements, as he left, they attacked Gaza, killing various bad guys and innocent civilians, (ah, collateral damage). His motorcade scooted through the city like no Palestinian has ever experienced. In fact before he arrived, a young boy supposedly died, waiting to get to a hospital, while delayed at a crossing. To his credit, he did take the risk to visit Palestinian HQ, but then it was Fatah, not Hamas. If he had real balls, he would have po'd the Israelis and asked for a visit with Ismayel Hanniyah. Forgetaboutit. He ain't no Ghandi. On Iran, he kept up the Gulf of Tonkin redux and on Pakistan, acted like he wanted "free and fair" elections while, truth is, he will do whatever he needs, under the table, to insure Musharaf stays in power. Takes one to know one. He tried, without success, to drum up a choir against Iran, but Saudi and their other neighbors weren't buyin'. Poor Georgie, goes out to do DC's dirty work, comes back with nuttin' but $50BB in sales. Such is the relationship between puppet and master in the sandbox, Georgey just wants to play nice and Little Dickie keeps throwing sand :) D.P. Lang, Editor-Publisher
